Ok, as promised, here are some photos of my eldest son's room - decorated with love x
Damon is four years old and is such a creative little man. When it was time to move him from the nursery into his 'big boy' room around the age of two, I wanted to create a fun, colourful space which would further spark his creativity and imagination.
I chose the Hiccups bedding as I love the colours and the spotty pattern suits the room really well. The bed is from Ikea and is fantastic - bigger than a normal toddler bed but not quite as big as a single, allowing plenty of room for play space. It also has the modern look I was after, great safety rails on the sides and was very inexpensive, meaning it really won't bother us when we have to replace it with a bigger bed later on. I'm not overly keen on the curtain and carpet colour, but wasn't prepared to spend a lot on new curtains or floor coverings at this stage, so decided to 'make do'. Maybe one day I'll change them ...
I love the Ikea Expedit bookcase for kids' rooms - a great way to store and display books and toys. We secured it to the wall for safety. They work really well in an older child's room as well - you can even add on a matching desk when they need one!
We bought the little blue Kalamazoo Kids couch on sale before Damon was even walking. It fits into his 'big boy' room really nicely and is a good spot for reading and resting (we have actually found Damon curled up asleep on it a few times!).
The Scandi tree wall decal, wooden tree shelf stand and mobile contribute to the Scandinavian look of the room. I just love the idea of having a 'tree' on the wall and other elements of nature (as I'm sure you'll notice when I post pictures of the other kids' rooms).
My hubby and I made the wooden name on the wall ourselves, in a retro style font to suit the vibe of the room. We have made one for all three boys and hubby did a great job of cutting out the names by hand using a jigsaw!
I just love the yellow vintage canister on top of the bookcase - great for storing little treasures. Check out the green vintage Tupperware canisters too - Damon loves to play with them and uses them to store all sorts of things.
The retro alphabet wall stickers and wooden name puzzle are from Mooo - they have such a wonderful range of stickers and personalised things for kids!
The big plastic tub is great for storing Thomas the Tank Engine trains and tracks. If fact, these flexible tubs are so handy for all sorts of things - washing baskets included!
Damon is lucky enough to have a walk-in-robe in his room. I've tried to set it up so that things stay relatively organised and can be easily accessed by a four year old.
The mini wheely bins work really well for Dress Ups (although Damon is not overly keen on dressing up just yet!) and as the Useful Box. The Useful Box gets plenty of use on a daily basis! Damon likes to make things out of all sorts of bits and pieces - we go through loads of sticky tape, but that's ok since it's all in the name of creativity.
